In the online readings from Week 1, the writers make the case for the importance of writing skills in the workplace; similarly, two writers in particular, (Wiens and Holland) contend that he will not hire people with bad grammar, and weak writing skills point to a bigger problem. Based on the readings, are these employers “taking it too far?” In this age of technology, are good writing skills still really important? How can good writers be beneficial to employers? What can colleges and universities begin doing right now to better prepare their students for workplace writing? Use examples from both of the readings to support your views.
