Purpose: To write a research topic proposal so that you may get your topic approved to begin research. This proposal must include:
- MLA heading
- Centered title with a hint to the working thesis
- The topic in general
- The issue you will cover (specific problem/discussion)
- a working thesis (must contain the issue and your stand on the issue–if you know what evidence you will use in the paper, include a direction statement with a preview of the evidence topics)
- a list of preliminary research that you’ve done. You don’t need anything more than the MLA style Works Cited entry for each source.
Audience and Tone: your audience is your peers (though I’m the only one reading it). Keep your tone scholarly and elevated with carefully chosen words. All Standard English rules apply.
