Directions:
This week we are starting Unit 3 on Monster Culture. Because we are going to be looking at monsters through the lens of race and culture, I would like us to read an article from Vanity Fair by Nathan Rabin. This article has videos embedded in it, so I will be linking the article for you to access. If you enjoy King Kong and/or this article, you might decide to use the giant ape as one of your monsters for this project (or all three, if you do three different iterations.)
Step 1:
Carefully read through “The Monkey and the Metaphor: What Every King Kong Movie Is Really About“ by Nathan Rabin. Read it slowly! Read it twice! Use the questions above to help you annotate. This reading I am providing as a link because there are videos embedded in the article.
Step 2:
Fill out an annotation worksheet for the reading.
Blank Annotation Worksheet here. (DOC)
Blank Annotation Worksheet here. (PDF)
(You can download it, type in your responses, and save your file or you can print it out, write your answers on the worksheet, and post a scan of the document.)
Submission:
To submit, please attach your saved files as either a Word, PDF, JPG or PNG file below and click Submit. You can submit twice for each annotation worksheet.
Happy Writing!
