Engineering Question

Each student shall prepare a 4-6 page paper “The 737Max vs. Fiction”. The paper
should compare and contrast the real-world 737 Max issue with those that faced Norton
Aircraft in Michael Crichton’s novel Airframe. The comparison should be in terms of the
requirements of at least one, and preferably two, engineering codes of ethics. The
conclusion of the paper should be three brief lessons that new engineers can learn from the
737 Max affair. Note that this is an individual assignment, not a team assignment! Each
individual must submit their own paper.
I’m not too interested in an extensive summary of the events, although a brief
summary of facts is desirable. I am specifically interested in your ability to address the
issues – both real-world and fictional – in terms of the codes of ethics. This discussion
shall include why the selected codes are applicable to the individuals involved and the point
at hand. Each lesson shall be described clearly, shall be related to some aspect of 737Max
affair, shall refer a specific code or code(s), and shall be supported by references to the
record in IEEE format where appropriate. Hint: Codes are best applied if you can put
yourself in the shoes of the affected individuals.
I have provided a number of papers about the 737Max incident. Merely
paraphrasing the content of these papers, especially the “ethics” paper, is not a sufficient
response to this assignment, and will receive minimal credit
