ENGI 2304 – Response Journal: Ethics and Contemporary issues

RESPONSE JOURNAL: ETHICS AND CONTEMPORARY ISSUES (5 PAGES, double space, size 12 WITH CITED SOURCES).

TOPIC: RULES OF PRACTICE: ENGINEERS SHALL HOLD PARAMOUNT THE SAFETY, HEALTH, AND WELFARE OF THE PUBLIC. IF ENGINEERS’ JUDGMENT IS OVERRULED UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES THAT ENDANGER LIFE OR PROPERTY, THEY SHALL NOTIFY THEIR EMPLOYER OR CLIENT AND SUCH OTHER AUTHORITY AS MAY BE APPROPRIATE.

For Response Journal 3, find a recent (less than 2 months old) situation from a legitimate news source that challenges some aspect of the National Society of Professional Engineers Code of Ethics. Introduce both the Code of Ethics and the news source that you use, and summarize both of them briefly. Then explain and analyze how it poses an ethical problem. Go into detail analyzing why it is an ethical situation and what challenges or solutions you see for the problem. Remember to cite both sources that you refer to in your response. Be sure to use the standard citation/referencing system that Finkelstein recommends in Chapter 14 of PBTW or one that is used in your major (see the entry on Response Journal 2 for more information on finding the appropriate citation system). Failure to document these sources correctly will result in a grade of Unacceptable.
