he online setting can be a bit isolating, so in this class we will create a safe, collaborative environment by creating a list of norms for our course experience. Please take a few minutes to do the following:
- Introduce yourself and share a boring fact about yourself (if you’re inclined to share something interesting, then feel free to but no pressure)
- Share one positive thing that you are looking forward to doing this summer
- Think about your experiences in online courses and discussion forums that you have had. Consider what you need from your peers to be successful—this should include anything that you need from your peers to feel comfortable enough to share your writing and thoughts. Then write a norm based on those considerations and share with the class.
This list of norms will give us a basic framework for how we will support each other in the online community of our course. Our norms will guide us throughout the semester through class discussion posts.
I’ve started the list and ask you each to add one or more norms that you would like for us to follow this semester. Once you post your response, introduce yourself to someone in this course and try to connect. I encourage you to build each other up and start supporting one another through the learning process. You can reply by clicking the reply button on that post.
Please remember that for full credit on discussion forums, you must complete your original post AND respond to at least one peer.
