1. What is the TED speaker’s topic?
Ted’s speaker Adam Alter’s topic was “The affect of screens (technology) on our lives
and how much time it takes from us.
2. What is the speaker’s connection to the topic, and from what angle does the speaker approach the topic?
The speaker looks at his topic from his daily life point of view, he also found that a lot of people
limit their children from using so much technology.
3. What is the speaker’s overall perspective or opinion on the argument? Whether it is clearly stated or not,
identify what you think is your speaker’s central thesis.
The speakers overall perspective is that throughout time everyone has turned to the internet so much that it
has affected their happiness and health. And he encourages people to stop using their electronics so much and focus
more on doing things that will improve their life, health, and happiness.
4. What is the speaker’s purpose? What does the speaker want the audience to do with the information they are presented with?
The speakers purpose is to encourage people to use technology less and develop habits that will distract them from
the use of so much technology.
5. What is your thesis regarding the quality of the speaker’s argument, including your overall judgment of the speaker’s
effectiveness?
Adam Alter argument was basically to show people that technology is ruining our lives and that we should take time out to
focus more on our personal life by doing things that are healthy for us and that makes of happy.
I thought that he presented his argument very well. He had some great point of views and supporting facts.
