- Student will be assigned a topic appropriate for course. Each student must have a unique topic, no duplicates.
- Student will research topic using a minimum of one textbook, and one professional journal article. Student may incorporate information from additional resources such as websites.
- Student will develop the following:
- A written report at least 2 pages long, typed, 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced.
- Cover sheet to include name, topic, date and course number ( DH 110)
- References cited in APA format.
- Minimum of 2 photos included and labeled accordingly illustrating key points. Photos will not count towards 2 pg. minimum
- Five-minute oral report on topic which adequately teaches the class about the topic. Present a handout for each class member. Handout should be a quick reference sheet and include the most important facts about topic and pictures.
- Presentation must address the following topics: histology, embryology, pathology, treatment for the condition and hygiene treatment implications.

Oral Histology
- How does this condition develop or impact the oral histology?
- What basic tissues does this condition affect?
- What oral tissues, if any, does this condition affect?
- What orofacial structures, if any, does this condition affect?
- Does this condition impact any of the layers of the teeth?
Oral Embryology
- Was this condition congenital? If yes, you must discuss the embryology involved.
- During what period did this condition form?
- Does this condition affect the development of orofacial structures?
- Does this condition affect tooth development?
Oral Pathology
- Does condition produce any lesions or pathological conditions?
- Discuss cell make up when applicable
- Does condition present on a radiograph?
- Does condition produce inflammation?
- Will condition repair itself?
- Does condition affect the immune system?
- What is the etiology?
Treatment for the condition:
- How is condition treated?
- Can condition be prevented?
- Can condition be cured?
- Prognosis?
- Will the dental hygiene treatment require any modifications? How so?
- Does this condition increase susceptibility to caries of periodontal disease? Why?
