I’m trying to study for my Writing course and I need some help to understand this question.
Read each question carefully, then answer using the knowledge gained through reading the book.
Each of your answers should be approximately 300 words in length, not counting citations and references to class materials used to support your answers.
Be sure to support your answer with knowledge drawn from the book.
- 1- Your text describes active listening as a “gift.” Consider a situation in your life where someone actively listened to you or you actively listened to someone else. Describe this situation, why active listening was a gift to you or to another.
- 2- Explain how world-mindedness differs from ethnocentric understanding of those whose culture is different than your own. Describe a recent situation in which you were able to use world-mindedness to better communicate with others.
- 3- Consider your favorite book, film, anime, or game; what genre is this form of entertainment? Analyze how emotional challenges play a role or role(s) in this entertainment.
- 4- Work through the five steps in section 3 “Your Turn” following the case study at the end of chapter 2. For this case study you are asked to imagine yourself in a workplace situation. This may or may not be a situation in which you would ever find yourself. However, for the purpose of answering this question, consider yourself in this situation and analyze this case study following the steps under section 3 “Your Turn.” Remember to support your perspective with concepts from the chapter and the class videos.
- 5- How have the first three weeks of our class including the readings, videos, and your own reflections helped you to become more interpersonally aware and authentic in your communication with others? What has been your most important insight and why?
