Term Paper

The objective of this project is to learn how to write/present a technical research paper. Select an
application in the area of computer vision (visual data analysis for finding known models in
images and pattern recognition, generate synthetic images of 3D objects and depth recovery from
stereo, etc.) that uses one of the topics in the course, or any of the cutting-edge research articles
in CV.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Extract information from images. This information can be used for identification of image
content, object detection/recognition/tracking, navigation for autonomous vehicles, etc.
Use suitable databases for the chosen application and test/evaluate the performance of the
algorithm on those databases.
Prepare a report based on the observations and present the paper to the class.
• Submit the title of your topic and 150-word abstract by Monday 05/31.
• The presentation duration is 20 minutes including Q/A. Friday 06/25.
• Length of the report: 4 – 6 pages including figures and illustrations (IEEE format).
Friday 06/25.
• The term paper report should contain abstract, introduction, theoretical description,
results discussion, conclusion, and appropriate technical references (minimum 5
references).
Notes:
• The technique should be implemented in Python.
• What to turn in through Blackboard! One single zipped file that includes:
o The term paper report as a PDF file.
o The program source codes with the dataset used for evaluation.
o The presentation slides as a PPT file.
• Late submissions will not be accepted.
• Email submissions will not be accepted.
