EEC 3204 FIU Issues In Early Childhood Education in US Paper

What have been the main challenges and successes to creating a comprehensive system of Early Care and Education in the United States? Use the videos and readings, as well as class discussions to support your argument.  You can also use resources not presented in class.

(Example of a good opening paragraph)

Early Childhood Education in the United States experienced a profound change in the 1960s starting with the landmark Head Start program (Rose, 2010).  In subsequent decades policy makers have struggled to create a system of early childhood care and education that meets the needs of both struggling parents (e.g., single mothers, poor families) and two-career families.  Those struggles have included changing our society’s attitudes about the role of government in early childhood education, the role of women in a modern economy, and the rights of all children to quality care and education.  It also has involved studying the effects of high-quality early childhood programs (e.g., Perry Preschool, Abecedarian Program, Head Start Longitudinal Study), looking at models outside the United States, and changing the attitudes of the general public about our most vulnerable citizens.
