Comparative Film Analysis
For this paper you will select two of the films viewed in the course (Bicycle Thieves and Lost in Translation) and compare them in terms of theme and style. While the theme will be common to each film the ways in which the theme is handled through plot, story, characters, and style may differ significantly. Each film will then be closely analyzed for its treatment of the common theme.
SOURCES AND CONTEXT: The primary source for this paper is your own reading of the two films and their connection. However, you are certainly encouraged to research what others have said about them. It is also important to understand the context in which these films were made and released and an understanding of that is necessary to a full understanding of them.
