Edgar Allan Poe The Black Cat Dramatic Adaptation and Story Discussion

I need help with a Writing question. All explanations and answers will be used to help me learn.

You just viewed a video of a dramatic adaptation of Poe’s “Black Cat.”

In this discussion you are to address some of the differences between your experiences of the story in the two formats.  You read the story first, and that likely put images into your head built from your imagination. You then watched a video which provided you with another set of images, sounds, characterizations than what you had originally provided for yourself. In short, the video offers you someone else’s rendition of the story, just as your own interpretation of the story is the rendition in your mind.

For this discussion, I want you to do two things:

1. First, speak on something that you saw as a divergence (difference) between what you took to be Poe’s story and the video production. Where did the video seem “off?” Here you can examine the characterization of the narrator, the setting, plot elements, whatever you have noticed that seems to diverge from your reading of the story. Did the difference add or subtract from the story in your thinking? How so?
