Go to scholar.google.com and search for a research article of interest to you that examines a social or economic impact of natural disasters. Many articles should be freely available through Google Scholar if you are on campus or they can be requested from the library. If you are off campus, you can use the UA VPN to virtually log on to our campus network and gain access to articles online just as you would on campus. Here is additional help from the UA library: https://new.library.arizona.edu/find/articles and 039817fbf0 You should not have to pay to access an article. Once you have selected an article, read it and answer the following questions:
a. [2 point] Provide the citation of the article you selected and also write out the article’s main research question(s).
b. [2 point] What type(s) of social or economic impacts does the article examine? What types of natural disaster(s) does the article examine?
c. [2 point] What results do the authors find? Briefly explain.
d. [4 points] What policy tool(s) could help mitigate this social or economic impact from natural disasters? If the article discusses a policy tool(s), you may discuss it here. If it does not, use your own knowledge and theory to propose a strategy to help mitigate the impacts.
