Growing up I wasn’t a athletic in any form or fashion. I tried very few sports in elementary, but never stuck to any. I didn’t like the hot sun or running up and down the field, so soccer didn’t work out. I could remember sitting on the field during the game playing with the grass. I tried to cheer, I don’t remember much about that experience, I just seen pictures. But obviously that didn’t work because I only cheered one season. I also remembered playing t-ball in elementary for only one season. I’m guessing that went good, because I remember trying out again my middle school year. I went to softball try out, which was a week try out. I was so excited to be apart for a team, I was able to communicate and interact with peers that I usually felt looked over me. We all rode on the bus to the try out field, I felt a little out of place once we reached because I was the only one with a purse. Everyone else had a big softball bag full of equipment used to try out. Once practice started I didn’t have a partner so the coach came over and offered to be my ball tossing partner. I felt that I was doing good with the coach with throwing and catching the ball. Shortly after the coach paired me up with two peers to pass the ball too. Well when it was my turn to catch the ball, I missed and the ball hit me very hard on my leg. I cried and cried, I felt embarrassed and I like this it’s for me. I didn’t participate the rest of the day because of my hurt leg. This caused me to feel lonely because everyone else was playing ball, I was no longer communicating with anyone. Once I got home, I made up my mind d that I wouldn’t be going back and softball wasn’t for me. Now that I think about it, I could have went back to try again, just because I wasn’t a great catcher maybe I could have been a great pitcher.
