Reflecting on your DEI experience in the previous discussion, compose an article for the Complex World.

Your article should address the following:

  • Give a brief description of the scenario you presented in the M3.3 discussion.
  • How would you handle this situation (which was the topic of your DEI experience discussion) now, based on what you have experienced and learned in this course?
  • Make a recommendation based upon best practices and experience for handling such situations in the future. Be sure your recommendations are supported with evidence from valid and reliable source
  • Previous Discussion:Natural hair discrimination has been an issue for a very long time. I came across an article that described how a woman accepted a job offer as a customer service representative. The offer, however, came with one caveat—she had to cut off her locs (Griffin, 2019). A suit was filed on her behalf by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission but was dismissed in 2016. At the time the EEOC’S guidelines debated whether the style was a racial characteristic protected by the law. African Americans have faced years of rebuttal as it relates to our hair. Many do not understand that hair plays a major role in the African American culture and in Black culture hair is extremely significant and often synonymous with identity (Chidera, 2021).In 2019 California passed the CROWN Act (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair), and became the first state to ban discrimination based on hair. The CROWN Act is now law in 14 states and 32 municipalities (Underwood, 2021).Chidera:2021; 10 Traditional African Hairstyles And Their Origin: African Vibes: Retrieved from: https://www.africanvibes.com/10-traditional-africa…Griffin, Chante’: 2019: How Natural Black Hair at Work Became a Civil Rights Issue: JSTOR DAILY: Retrieved from: org/how-natural-black-hair-at-work-became-a-civil-rights-issue/”>https://daily.jstor.org/how-natural-black-hair-at-…Underwood, Khalea; 2021: Crowning Glory: Ebony: Retrieved from: https://www.ebony.com/covers/crown-coalition/
