If you don’t think you have much to write about for a certain area, just indicate why and spend more time on a different one. Spend roughly one page for each area. Offer specific details and examples of your experiences. If you aren’t comfortable discussing a certain topic, just let me know.
a. Individual/Personal (Micro level: partner, spouse, intimate relationship). What gender issues have you experienced with your relationships? Gender roles? Communication? Chores? Finances? If you aren’t currently in a relationship, discuss a past one or what you would expect in a future one.
b. Family (Micro level: parents, siblings, children, extended family). Do you have gender issues with your children? Do you and your partner treat your children differently because of their gender? Do you have different relationships with your siblings because of their gender? Is there evidence of gender socialization? If you don’t have any children, think about how you intend to raise them. If you don’t expect any children, just address that point.
c. School (Meso level: Peirce College, other colleges, high schools, etc., classmates, peers, teachers). Are there any interesting dynamics among your classmates or professors at Peirce College or any other school you attended? The ratio of females to males? Different treatment for different genders? Interestingly, many students have very clear memories of grade school gender issues.
d. Work/Employment (Meso level: colleagues, superiors, subordinates). How do the different genders treat each other? Have you seen evidence of gender discrimination or sexual harassment?
e. Social (Meso level: friends, community, neighbors, religious organizations, teams, clubs). Have your friends had any gender issues? What have you noticed in your neighborhood or community about gender roles? Who is taking care of the kids? Who is working?

Is there any current event that deals with gender issues or how different genders are treated in different countries? what is going on in larger society that interests you?
