Your paper should include an introduction that notes the basics of what you saw and in what format, as well as some background behind the play and the playwright. Please use references or works cited to reference your source material for the research (any standardized format acceptable). As always, describe moments and choices with specificity, tying these to their effect on your viewing experience. 800-1800 words, double spaced (3-7 pages).
Here’s what your paper should do:
Provide us with some context. Tell us a little bit about the play- like when it was written, why the playwright wrote it, what the effect might have been on the original audience ( if relevant). What was the intent of the producing team? What experience do you think they intended for the audience to have? You’ll want to address at least 3 areas of production from among:
- Set
- Lights
- Costuming
- Staging
- Sound
- Acting/Casting
How did the choices made in the above areas reveal Plot, Character, and Thought? How wdid the production choices bring to life key aspects of the script that you discovered in your analysis? How were the different than you imagined? Given the choices you observed, what do you think the production team was trying to accomplish in terms of the effect of the play on the audience? How was this similar/different from your vision of the play? Be sure to use the terminology and concepts we’ve explored in class.
