Early Childhood Education

These are the NAEYC’s (National Association for the
Education of Young Children) 5 Core Standards for Professional Preparation:

1. Promoting child development and learning
2. Building family and community relationships
3. Observing, documenting, and assessing to support young
   children and families
4. Teaching and learning

• Connecting with children and families
• Using developmentally effective approaches
• Understanding the importance of each content area in
  young children’s learning

Becoming a professional

Choose one of the five individual
standards and create a ten- to fifteen- slide PowerPoint presentation (plus
Title and Reference page slides) that would educate first year early childhood
educators on your chosen topic.  Within your power point, please make sure
to include the following:

• A summary of your chosen standard
• At least two to three examples of how to best implement
  your chosen standard
• The implications of your standard on student academic
  and/or social-emotional development

This is a PowerPoint Presentation, not an essay. You can
use the “notes” section to expand in greater detail on information presented in
the slides.
