Economics of Work and Pay.
Most people spend a substantial fraction of their lifetime engaged in
labour market activity. Labour market outcomes help determine an
individual’s income and wealth, the types of goods and services people
buy, the schools children attend, and even dating and marriage outcomes.
Also many social policy issues relate to the labour market experiences
of particular groups of workers, and worker-rm relations. Issues which
may be examined in labour market economics include: trends in labour
force participation of women (time, country); wage differentials between
groups of workers (sector, gender, race, physical appearance); the
influence of family background, education and training on occupational
attainment and pay, and labour mobility (occupations, rms, regions,
countries).
