For your initial post, select one of the following sensory or motor disorders from the table. If you would like to focus on a disorder that is not on the list, please get prior approval from your instructor.

In your post,

  • Explain the symptoms of the disorder and some of the key diagnostic criteria and methods.
  • Explain which regions of the nervous system, neurons, or neurotransmitters are involved and how they may be involved.
  • Describe at least one key functional deficit (social, occupational, or other) associated with the disorder, including how these may impact the person’s lifestyle and daily activities.
  • Explain how the disorder helps you understand sensory or motor systems in general and how you might briefly explain these systems to colleagues, friends, or family. For example, what questions might you want to ask your family member to better understand their experiences with sensation, perception, and movement? How does this week’s material inform these questions?
