DQ1- There are many crime databases that track crime and document information that is useful for law enforcement. The databases I would use to start my research are the records management system (RMS), Geographic Data System, Crime incident database, and the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS). According to Levine (2006), the RMS contains all relevant data within the police agency and can include separate databases, such as crime reports, arrest reports, persons information, property and evidence information, and vehicle information. The geographic data system creates, maintains, and stores geographic data. Which creates, maintains, and stores geographic data (Levine, 2006). Crime incident database gather information on suspects, witnesses, victims, vehicles, and property from each report concerning the nature of the crime. Local, state and federal agencies generate NIBRS data from their records management systems (Levine, 2006). Data is collected on every incident and arrest in the Group A offense category, our clients case involving drug buy for a series of home would fall into this category.

The geographic data system can be used to find and analyze the locations of the series of homes. I would utilize RMS and the crime incident databases to find the persons living there and all information about them. If crimes have occurred there before and officer documented them well, I would be able to access all important information for the drug case. Utilizing GPS and cell phone tracking I could find who lives there along with the phone numbers. Connecting the phone numbers with the drug case can bring up properties that our connected to it. The properties information can be made public and that is where I would access their bank statements. With all these databases at our disposal, information is easy to access if you know where to look.

DQ2- If I had a client who has a case involving a drug buy the database I would start my research by using Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) to run MVD,ACIC/NCIC and Criminal History of suspects. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is a great way to help in the search for answers when it comes to identifying different elements that are involved with people using and selling drugs. According to Brown & Flynn (2002), “The mission of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is to advance science on the causes and consequences of drug use and addiction and to apply that knowledge to improve individual and public health.” By understanding how drugs work in the brain and body, it can help to figure out certain patterns of drug users and drug dealers. Another database that would be good is the National Household Survey of Drug Abuse (NHSDA). This database provides an annual self-report about the number of people that use drugs, their characteristics, and their patterns when using. Lexus Nexis is a great tool when it comes to finding out who lives at the residences. The benefits of Lexus Nexis for law enforcement is having the ability to know if a suspect own a house, what they paid, previous addresses, professional licenses, liens, judgments and much more. The differences between all these database sources are they can be put together to gather a bunch of information to help the crime analyst come up with a final conclusion.

DQ3- While tracking such an incident, I will begin with the NIBRS database such which contains so much relevant information necessary for solving this type of a crime. This database contains information about the number of arrests within the locality. It will help in determining whether someone who has been arrested previously for a similar incident is in the locality and whether they might be linked to the crime.

The next important database is the Property shark which contains information about the information on what residents within the region own. This works through searching an address of a certain member within the residential area. After searching the address of the individual, all the relevant information about them is displayed. With will be vital in pointing out suggestive members of the society so that to proceed with the relevant research.

It is also important to assess whether they are using other secretive contacts to carry out communication on illegal activities involving the drugs. This can be researched using the Database USA. After searching keying in the details of the suspect, one can easily access all the contacts that they are communicating with. This databases contain different data about the potential suspect. By narrowing down the search activities, it will be easy to track them down hence solving the problems within the region.
