    • Scenario #1 – Mental State:
    • Stacey Brown, an 18-year-old Hispanic female, comes to the Emergency Room with complaints of feeling sad. She states “I don’t want to live anymore”. She states that her boyfriend broke up with her 2 months ago and has a new a girlfriend. She lives at home with her mother and her mother’s boyfriend.
      • Based on her presenting signs, what other questions would you elicit?
      • How would you demonstrate knowledge of cultural sensitivity/humility in approach to this patient?
      • What would you assess?

      Scenario #2 – Skin:A 33-year-old Hispanic female comes to the clinic with complaints of erythema under her armpit. She has tiny dark red lesions filled with pus with itching. She states “I am taking antibiotics for it, but it seems to not go away.”

      Scenario #3 – HEENT:
      Mrs. B. is a 45-year-old African American who comes to the clinic complaining of itching and pain in her left eye for the past 24 hours. She noticed her left eye was completely shut this morning with a greenish-yellowish mucous/discharge. She describes the pain as mild and aching; she denies any visual disturbances in the right eye. She does not wear corrective lenses. She denies any work-related exposures. She complains of a non-productive cough for the last three days. She denies any fever. She has a history of hypertension and sees her physician regularly for checkups; she has been told that her blood pressure is controlled by medication.
