DISCUSSION POST MUST BE 10+ SENTENCES AND THE PEER REVIEW MUST BE 7+ SENTENCES PLEASE USE YOUR OWN WORDS AND DO NOT COPY FROM OTHER SITES STAY ON TOPIC ,BE POSITIVE , AND DO NOT COMMENT ON GRAMMAR ERRORS. TALK DIRECTLY TO CLASSMATES IN PEER REVIEWS!!!
1) DISCUSSION QUESTION
Throughout this term, we’ve strived to expand your personal thought processes. Using the week 10 sections of the WebText as your guide, how do you intend on altering your approach to problem solving in the future?
If you could select one (1) aspect that you encountered over this term, what would you tell a future PHI210 student is the most important aspect of this course? Why did you select that aspect of the course?
2) PEER REVIEW ( DIETRA)
Hello Class and Professor Erhart,
Throughout this term, we’ve strived to expand your personal thought processes. Using the week 10 sections of the WebText as your guide, how do you intend on altering your approach to problem solving in the future?
Identify (recognize/define) the problem.
2. Gather information (facts/assumptions).
3. Develop courses of action (solutions).
4. Analyze and compare courses of action (alternatives/solutions).
5. Make a decision; select the best course of action (solution).
6. Make a plan.
7. Implement the plan (assess the results)
If you could select one (1) aspect that you encountered over this term, what would you tell a future PHI210 student is the most important aspect of this course? Why did you select that aspect of the course?
I do not believe I can pick one aspect that I have encountered. I have encountered so many. I did learn more about myself and use my true experiences to help in this course. Stay true to yourself. Do not take this class for granite and think it is easy. Take your time and study. I use critical thinking every day but I did not know which form I used and I hope that I do not use any of the fallacy types to persuade others to my side.
3) PEER REVIEW ( ASHLEY FOX)
Week 10 Discussion: Reflection on the Process
Development of problem-solving abilities has been of the fundamental aspects of this course. At a personal level, the course has reshaped my problem-solving approach from generalities to specifics. Before enrolling for the course, I had a general belief that decision making during problem-solving was an arbitrary process that casually undertaken. With time, I have come to appreciate that problem solving is a process that requires situational analysis and conception of facts. Good problem solvers intentionally distinguish their emotions from the process. Going forward, I intend to alter my problem-solving in two ways. First, I will give factual analyses of situations a priority. This promotes a comprehensive understanding and conception of the problem, hence ease of finding solutions. Secondly, I have to appreciate the fact that I do not have all the solutions. Therefore, I consult as much as possible before making final decisions on controversial problems.
Inductive reasoning is the most important aspect of critical thinking. Critical thinking leads to scientific and pragmatic solutions that apply to generally related situations. According to inductive reasoning, broad generalizations are drawn from specific factual situations. This aspect of critical thinking is essential because it applies the scientific concepts of inference and extrapolation. For instance, a solution that adequately addresses the current situation at a smaller scope can be applied to a broader scope. Therefore, I would advise future PHI210 students to develop their critical thinking by solving problems at personal levels and using the personal successes to escalate the utility of their conceptions at a broader context. This is major because induction reasoning gives room for capacity enhancement of conceived solutions. Also, it is a scientific approach to problem-solving.
