For this assignment you will create a digital story.The purpose of this assignment is to put into practice the strategies for effective digital storytelling, to explore what makes digital stories “contagious” and to develop your understanding of the place digital stories have in a broader social media strategy.

In addition to creating your story, you will create a brief introduction that explains why you believe your story is an effective piece for our client.

Directions

  1. Choose a individual, object, product, or message that you want to focus on as the “hook” for our client’s digital story.
  2. Develop a coherent and creative narrative that taps into our client’s value proposition and has the potential to go viral.
  3. Create a storyboard for your story. Keep in mind the principles of narrative and remember to include all of the elements that you will need to “shoot” in your story.
  4. Create your digital story using a tool of your choice. You may choose from the tools discussed in our Weekly lesson and readings or choose any other tool you would like to try. You may even choose to use a storyboard template and draw your “story.” Note: the quality of your video/art is not part of the evaluation for this assessment. I encourage you to try something new
  5. Create an introduction for your digital story. In the introduction you should:
    • Remind the class who the client is, and their mission.
    • Summarize the digital story.
    • Explain the objective of the digital story and how you would recommend measuring the impact of the story.
    • Explain how the digital story fits in with the client’s overall mission and communication strategy.

    Goal: Brand AwarenessObjective 1: Increase the number of Nordic Approach followers on all platforms by a total of 500 by 12/20/20. Objective 2: Grow website traffic (www.thenordicapproach.com) from social media by 20% by 12/20/20.He is especially interested in broadening the audience for cross country skiing to include a wider range of people. The Cross Country Ski Area Association’s marketing research shows that the group of people interested in skiing is becoming more diverse, especially as people look to more outdoor activities as a way to stay healthy – but there is definitely more room to grow! You already know that the organization has some social media (that isn’t very active!). Now it’s your turn to create some content for the Nordic Approach to help achieve their goal.Specifically, your job is to create some form of digital story that could be posted to one of the Nordic Approach’s social media platforms. A reminder, the Nordic Approach currently has social media accounts on Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram.
