As a doctoral candidate I am fully aware that there will be a lot of research that I will have to conduct. Protecting the participants in my studies is very important to me. Protecting my participants is not only required by law but the moral thing to do. The methods I will use to protect my participants in the studies I conduct is filing important documents in a locked filing cabinet, add passwords to documents that I save on the computer, and lastly remove any personal identification. I have used these methods in my past research and they were successful.

The 2021 FA Orientation Seminar course has been very beneficial for starting this journey of earning my doctoral degree at Belhaven University. It has given me:

  • the outline of the steps needed while preparing for research,
  • the three different methods of research and their explanations,
  • how to be ethical of others’ information used to do my research,
  • how important it is to be honest and give credit to cited work used in my research.

This is my first online course and I had to absorb a lot of things at the beginning. However, by God’s grace each day has gotten better and better. The challenge I must overcome is anxiety, not knowing what to expect. I know that with God all things are possible. I am a strong believer that He will give me the willpower to make it to the completion of this degree program. I want to thank Dr. Harter and all of the faculty at Belhaven University for allowing me this opportunity to carry out my dream of earning my doctoral degree. As 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” I trust and believe, He will see me through.
