Discussion of class project, election of a group leader – Draft of Introduction due by the end of Week 2. Submit the introduction part of the course project in the Week 2 Assignment section. (Right we have pick the two topic of accounting revenue and planning system.
Based upon your initial reading of articles and the Annual Report, identify three areas of the company which your group thinks may warrant further investigation through an operational audit. This could be anything from financial information to company structure to corporate culture to employee retention; in other words, anything that you read about the company which interests you could be an area to investigate!
To help you select the areas to investigate (remember that there are no wrong answers here!), think about the following:
- Are there items in the notes to the Annual Report that concerns you?
- While reading the articles provided in the Files section of the Course Menu (and other articles you find on the Internet), do the authors of the articles mention things within the company that may become problem areas?
- While reviewing the Annual Report, are there large increases or decreases in the financial information that look like they might warrant further investigation by your team?
- Can you get a feel for the corporate culture by reading the material and, if so, do you see any possible problem areas? For example, does it seem like the company puts profit before all else? Is there high turnover of employees, so perhaps morale is not as high as it should be? You will have to make some assumptions here, but that is okay!
