Development in the Arts, funding for arts

Create an Ask for an arts organization, a creative project, a business venture or for yourself.

Create a white paper that makes the cause for funding the arts. Choose your audience and make your case. The white paper should include at least 4 pages of written content. Additionally the paper should include visual information to back-up your case. Visuals can include charts, graphs, tables or images that support case evidence you might be describing. Use primary research. https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/546/1/

Outline includes the MINIMUM criteria to get a C on the final. All sections should be explored thoroughly to receive an A.

Identify your Ask. Who are you asking for, include description of the organization, project and/or activities. Include the mission statement. What are you asking for? Who are you asking?

Who does your organization or project serve? Be specific about the audience and address race, gender, abilities or other descriptors as necessary and relevant. “This program is for everyone” is not an answer. Be real.

Make a supportive case about the need of your project/organization. You will need to do credible research to support your statements. Americans for the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts are a great resource. Look for studies with conclusive evidence. You must have at least 5 different sources and not more than 2 from any one research organization.

Identify 3 responses you may receive and how you would respond back.

Conclusion. Use what you have learned about development to clarify and conclude the Ask.

1. Address the first sections that tell ME who you are asking, who you are asking for and what are you asking for.

2. Begin the Ask. Depending on who you are asking, you are going to use different language. Individual donors give for different reasons than foundations. Make sure you a connecting your case to your audience.

3. Make sure you are using headers for each section of your paper and ask. Even if you are asking an individual I want to see that you are providing the appropriate and complete information for your assignment.

This is hypothetical but based on a real organization. Choose the most appropriate donor profile for your ask.
