Your project should consist of a detailed analysis of a Disney theme park attraction, resort hotel, dining venue, or other significant site at Walt Disney World. In the case of an attraction, pay particular attention to the “pre-show” area through which the queues move, and don’t forget the merchandising area at the end! 5 pages double spaced but honestly I’m desperate
Then write an analysis, including some of the following:
Form
Exterior Design:What kind of architecture is represented? Why has this particular form been chosen? How are shapes and objects manipulated by the design?Consider lighting design, which may vary between day and night. What about the use of color and textural finishes? Are certain feelings or emotions created? What historical references are evident in the exterior? How does the design fit within its immediate context? What roles do the different types of signage play? How would you characterize the landscaping and use of water? What kind of initial reaction might a viewer have to this exterior design?
Interior Design:What kind of scenic elements are found inside the attraction, hotel, or building? How does the interior design continue the story found on the outside? What new visual information has been added, including furniture, fixtures, and finishes? As in a movie, have all of the props been selected and installed to communicate something? How does the interior provide the “stage” for the story being told? What is contributed by sound, such as music, dialog, or sound effects?Have special effects, like fire, vapor, or pixie dust, been added?Has any unique or advanced technology been utilized, whether visible or concealed?
Content
Purpose:Why is this attraction or hotel significant in its immediate context? What is its general purpose? Is this evident from the observations about form?
Story:What is being communicated within the attraction, hotel, or building? Can you envision a script? What time period or locale is being created? How is the guest able to participate in this story?
Space:What kind of environment has been created? Is it intentionally limiting in its scope or is it able to be independently explored? What kinds of feelings are created in such a space? How does the observer move through space?
Intention:What seems to be the purpose in both form and the story or experience told within the form? How do all of the elements fit together in creating mood, atmosphere, and emotions? What kinds of positive didactic functions are evident?Does one learn something from the experience?
