Here you will upload the field notes you took after your 4 hours of participant observation. Make sure the following is labeled clearly at the top of each set of notes:
- Your name:
- What (the activity observed):
- Where:
- When (date and time):
- Duration:
Your field notes will be evaluated on their level of detail and completeness and the extent to which they demonstrate all of the tips for writing good field notes in the lesson from Week 3 (see Lesson–How to Take Field Notes as a Participant Observer and studentsamples_fieldnotes.pdf), including these core elements:
- Field notes should tell a coherent step-by-step story of what was observed
- Field notes should present the dialogues observed, indicating what are direct quotations and what are paraphrases of what people said
- Field notes should describe basic settings and scenes
- Field notes should characterize the main individuals who appear in the account
