Resume / Cover Letter Samples (due by Sunday, September 19)
Pretend you are an employer looking for potential candidates to interview for a job in your company. Look through the sample resumes I have posted and respond to the following questions in a discussion board post:
Would you hire these individuals or call them in for an interview based on what you see? Why or why not? Try to discuss specifics about what things work and don’t work on these documents. Be as detailed and nit-picky as possible.
To access the sample cover letters and resumes, please click on the first three threads I have posted for you in order to review the three different samples of resumes and cover letters. They are in PDF format so that the formatting wouldn’t be lost. If they won’t open for you, you might need to do a quick download of Adobe Reader, or save them to your computer and open in Google Docs.
You may choose one resume and one cover letter to address in your post, or discuss them all. However, try to be clear about which one you are discussing as you give your comments (call them Sample 1, 2, or 3). Remember that you are pretending to be an employer looking these over as potential application materials for a job in your company.
These are all separate documents from random people, but you want to think about what you know about both the cover letter and the resume and how each should look.
You will need to discuss at least ONE resume and ONE cover letter.
