Compete in the kaggle.com project, Store Item Demand Forecasting Challenge

You will work ALONE on this competition and must obtain a FREE Kaggle.com account. Kaggle is the home of data science. You must also submit your predictions successfully to Kaggle.com, as that is part of the rubric. You will provide screen snapshots with your scores and your user name to verify submission and allow comparison.

Expectations for the Paper

  • You will provide a five page, single-spaced paper and a separate R file with your problem analysis.
  • Use 1″ margins and 12 point font. Use a scholarly guide for citations (i.e. APA, MLA, etc.), including the following items:
    • Problem: A discussion of the problem under consideration.
    • Significance: Why is the problem significant or at least interesting?
    • Literature: FIVE examples from PEER REVIEWED JOURNALS of how the types of models you selected were used in similar situations.
    • Data: Provide descriptive statistics and graphs. Provide visualization.
    • Discuss processing of the data, cleaning, and feature creation.
    • Type of Models: What model classes did you build? Why?
    • Formulation: How did you formulate / implement you model in Python / R?
    • Performance / Accuracy: How did your models perform? This needs to be evaluated on the unseen test set that Kaggle.com has. Provide your user ID and a screen snapshot of your scores.
    • Limitations: What are the limitations of the model you designed?
    • Learning: What did you learn from building these models?
