Merging Queries

    1. Continue using PopulationData
    2. Save file as Yourname-05 save to your flash drive or into your OneDrive
    3. Combine-Merge Queries – Merge queries as new
      1. Select Income per person Data
      2. Select Country and Year columns in both data sets
      3. Join Kind – Select Inner (only matching rows)
      4. Expand Income per person Data, Unselect Country and Year, Use original column name as prefix
      5. Select Income per person Data and Right Click Uncheck Enable Load
      6. Save file as Yourname-05 save to your flash drive or into your OneDrive

  1. Rename Data to Income per person Data
  2. Use First Row as Headers
  3. Rename the column GDP per capita PPP, with projections column to Country.
  4. Unpivot
  5. Rename Columns Attribute to Year and Value to Income
  6. Save your work

Load Total Population.XLSX Total Population.xlsx

  1. Select data spreadsheet- load then rename to PopulationData
  2. Select columns – select Unpivot Columns
  3. Rename the columns Attribute and Value to Year and Population, respectively.
  4. Save your work

Merging Queries

  2. Combine-Merge Queries – Merge queries as new
  3. Select Income per person Data
  4. Select Country and Year columns in both data sets
  5. Join Kind – Select Inner (only matching rows)
  6. Expand Income per person Data, Unselect Country and Year, Use original column name as prefix
  7. Select Income per person Data
  8. Right Click
  9. Uncheck Enable Load
  10. Save your file
  11. Upload into Canvas as Your name Data Analysis 5 Data Analysis #5 Chapter 2: Unpivot and Merge
