Directions:
For our last TED talk discussion, we will focus on the ideas around success and failure. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to “succeed” but what does that mean? And we always think of “failure” as a bad thing, but is it?
To get started, please watch the TED talk below:
Once you have watched the TED talk in its entirety, consider the questions below. Remember to respond meaningfully. Your initial response should be 250-300 words, and your responses to classmates should go beyond “I agree/I like” and be 100-150 words long.
- How does the speaker definite success and failure?
- What assumptions does he address about the concept of each? How do these assumptions match the way you think about success and failure?
- Has the speaker successfully helped you change the way you think about these two concepts? Why or why not?
Grading and Submission:
To receive the full credit, you must submit initial response on time and respond to two of your classmates on time. Please respond in full sentences and be as detailed as possible. Your initial post should be around 250-300 words while your responses should be at least 150 words and go beyond “I agree/disagree.” You may also refer to the rubric attached.
For quick tips on your initial post, check out the Writing a Good Discussion. If you need help submitting the discussion, remember to utilize our Canvas Discussion Guide.
