Explain the core idea in Kant’s categorical imperative (the version that emphasizes the universal aspect of morality).
Explain the core idea in categorical imperative that emphasizes the importance of treating people as ends and not means.
Explain where Kantianism seems weak (at least in its original, non-modified form). Re-read Vaughn’s section on evaluating the theory.
Note: In understanding Kant’s imperatives, it is crucially important that you grasp the difference between a “hypothetical” and a “categorical” imperative. A similar distinction separates what Kant calls an “imperfect” from a “perfect” duty.
