CUNY BC English Protect a Culture from Genocide Discussion

In this Final module, you will read an article, you will provide a reflection and submit it here. I will read and comment back on your reflection.

Please pay attention, the process here is slightly different form the other two writing workshops:

You are to compose an Outline, a Draft, and a Revision. You will submit ALL 3 DOCUMENTS together in one single file. This package will be your Final Writing Package.

What I would like to see in this package is the gradual progress from Outline to Draft. They must correspond and show how you have worked from one to the next. I would like to see noticeable progression from Draft into Revision in terms of paragraph length, development of argument in each paragraph, development of the conclusion, integration of research and secondary material, and over all improvement.

Please keep in mind for this package you will NOT receive any feedback from me. However you are ENCOURAGED to contact Writing Place and/or Language Lab and/or TASK to work with a tutor to help you with editing and rewriting your Draft. In fact I will be very happy to see if you have done so.

SAVING UIGHUR CULTURE FROM GENOCIDE

By Yasmeen SerhanReading this article I encourage you to remember what we have learnt in Chapters 2 & 4 of Beyond Feelings in order to remain as analytical, less emotional, and more open to logic and reason, than sensation and propaganda. You can take advantage of the other 3 essays you have read so far in this course and use those as your secondary resources. You may if you wish focus on Language and Identity – Language and Culture – Language in Diaspora when thinking about your Final Essay. In other words, keep Language at the centre of your argument. Keep in mind, this is a relatively longer article. So for sake of clarity and time, you are encouraged to focus on “PARTS” of the essay. In other words, you do not have to incorporate everything that is discussed in here. You will see a clear comparison being drawn here with two very particular cultural groups. You can if you wish take advantage of this and draw similar comparison between your own cultural knowledge/life/experience and what the article discusses. You can, if are interested in history, make that comparison with any part of human history and civilisation that you are interested give you deliver THOROUGH ACADEMIC RESEARCH and reasoning for your argument.
