The manner in which a society or culture views a particular drug
vastly influences its acceptance by that society or culture. Some
societies have made drugs legal in response to their society’s belief
that each individual has the right to decide for themselves whether or
not to use it. In the United States, for well over a century, use of
most drugs has been deemed delinquent. In recent years, however, we have
seen individual states pass legislature decriminalizing certain
substances.

How has society’s attitude toward drugs changes throughout the 20th
century through today? Select a particular drug and trace its ties to
American culture throughout the years. Write a 2-3 page paper; be
