Mr. Ramos, your manager, wants you to create an informational handout that addresses patients’ frequently asked questions concerning components of the healthcare system. Since the handout will be widely distributed, he has provided you with some specific guidelines about the format and content. Your informational handout must describe at least five healthcare facilities chosen from the list Mr. Ramos provided below. Use your personal experience and your research into healthcare systems to create the handout. To ensure that the information is effectively communicated to diverse audiences, be sure to use clear and concise language. To help convey your written message and make the handout visually appealing, you can include images. To learn more about how to create handouts, refer to How to Create an Informational Handout resource in the Supporting Materials section.

1. Review the following list of facilities. Choose at least five facilities to include in your informational handout.

1. Using your personal experience and your research into healthcare systems, address the following:

• Briefly describe the healthcare services provided at each facility (e.g., wellness checks, immunizations, lab tests, outpatient surgery).

• Describe the role of the personnel (e.g., doctors, specialists, nurses, allied health care, alternative medicine, and other care providers) responsible for delivery of service at each facility, including specialized area(s) of service.

• Provide a brief explanation of the potential sources of payment that patients, as consumers, may use at each facility. Answer the following questions for each facility.
  • What options are available for someone without health insurance to pay for services?
  • What types of government-supported payment options do they allow?
  • What payment options are available for veterans?
  • What types of private health insurance are accepted?

• Explain the continuum of care that exists between facilities and services. Include specific examples for the following:
  • Follow-up care
  • Referrals
  • In-home care
  • Testing
  • Therapy

Every project has a deliverable or deliverables, which are the files that must be submitted before your project can be assessed. For this project, you must submit the following:

Informational Handout
Create an informational handout between 500 to 800 words designed to help individuals understand how to navigate through various components of the U.S. healthcare system. The informational handout should include descriptions of services provided, personnel roles, and potential sources of payment for each of the five facilities that you selected from Mr. Ramos’s list. An explanation of the continuum of care that exists between the facilities should also be presented in the informational handout.
