Discussion Response

Action research is used to solve problems in a variety of disciplines to formulate solutions, and to engage in ways to accomplish a desired goal. Stringer (2014) states action research is a collaborative approach to inquiry or investigation that provides people with the means to take systemic action to resolve specific problems. In the area of action research, I would like to increase my confidence in inquiries and by using accurate language to achieve positive outcomes.
The topic I would like to increase my confidence in is the area of Alzheimer’s Disease vs Dementia. Although this disease has been around for more than a decade, I am not confident in the differences.
According to McNiff (2016), action research is about evaluating your practice to check whether it is as good as you would like it to be, identifying any areas needing improvement, and finding ways to improve them. The concept appears simple in definition. For me, I struggle with identifying articles that are a good fit for the assigned topic. Either the key words are not correct, or too broad, or not a match. Similar to what Stringer (2014) describes in the three phases, look think and act, I would like to follow that routine for current and my upcoming capstone project.
