We have been talking about genres. Please describe the reading and writing you have done in your university courses. What genres do you read and write? Why? Is it easy for you to do that reading and writing? Why or why not?

Please describe your thoughts regarding pages 203 to 229 by considering the following ideas. We have said that language, thought, and culture are interconnected, that they influence and are influenced by one another. Ahearn discusses some of the language ideologies relating to language and gender, explaining that “language and gender are related in complex and variable ways” (226). She writes, “Women, men, and children all suffer when gendered assumptions regarding communicative styles and identities are inaccurate or overly rigid” (228-229).
