Others think that the Electoral College still plays an important role in our democracy and ought to be defended:

Familiarize yourself with both sides of this argument by reviewing the material linked (and mentioned) above and by doing your own research as you feel necessary.
Then determine for yourself which argument you prefer and which system is most likely to yield the “best” person for the job as we discussed it in class. Then write a paper (approximately 2 pages in length) in which you defend your position and argue its merits. Of course, there’s a possibility that you reject both options, which is also fine. If that’s the case go ahead and write a paper in which you justify that position, and, perhaps, argue the merits of an alternative system for selecting a president.
