CRM 330 Reaction Paper Guidelines

Controversial Statement: “Street gangs in the United States operate exclusively at the local level, in isolation, and pose little threat outside their sphere of influence. It is impossible to determine what street gangs have the most influence or know what activities they engage in.” (Clearly, neither statement is true which makes this a controversial statement)

Your objective in writing this assignment is to define an issue comprehensively, critically, and clearly and to formulate and clarify your position using supporting published literary evidence on that issue by reacting to the assigned controversial statement.

In addition to other references please cite at least one reference for your paper from the assigned website(s) as follows:

Visit: http://www.justice.gov/criminal/taskforces/ocdetf…. to identify information regarding the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces

Visit: http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/investigate/vc_majorth… to identify Violent Gang Task Forces and to identify Anti-Gang Initiatives and Partnerships

While visiting the website think about the history and diversity within organized crime.

Provide in-text citations in the paper.

The paper should extensively develop the issue and ideas are presented in a clear, concise manner, provides a fundamental overview of the topic as it relates to the criminal justice system, shows depth and understanding of the subject matter with appropriate analysis of the topic (i.e. Due process model, crime control model, or social process theories), meet acceptable college-level standards with respect to form and substance; meets APA style requirements, free of typographical errors; typed in a double spaced format with bibliographic references; free of plagiarism.
