Critical Analysis Research Paper

 

 

 

Write a 3,500 word minimum critical analysis research paper based on the requirements listed below.

 

 

 

This paper should analyze, ask questions, discuss consequences, evaluate, make arguments/recommendations supported by evidence and reasoning, and/or otherwise demonstrate critical analysis of the researched topics. Critical analysis of the topic does not merely repeat what the sources tell you. The strongest papers draw from the descriptions and analyses of various sources and then present their own coherent argument and conclusions on the subject—conclusions supported by evidence and reasoning.

 

 

 

Content Requirements:

 

  • Select a disaster, emergency or terrorist incident: Typhoon Haiyan

 

  • From anywhere in the world, and

  • That required more resources than were available from local jurisdiction. (Ex. Fukushima, Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, etc.)

 

  • Mission area:

 

  • Preparedness (Mitigation, Prevention, Protection), or

 

  • Conduct a Critical Analysis of the event from the perspective of the chosen mission area:

 

  • What happened?

  • Identify and discuss at least four issues/problems that evolved from the specific phase of emergency management.

 

  • Evaluate the responses and provide recommendations as to what should be done differently in the future

 

    • List and describe a minimum of 4 suggestions/recommendations that will serve to fix or mitigate the discussed issues/problems. You must include pros and cons for each suggestion/recommendation.

    • Argue why you believe the selected recommendations will be effective, if the event were to happen again.

 

 

 

Format Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of 3,500 words (body of text)

  • Minimum of 6 credible sources, 2 of which must be from peer-reviewed journals

 

 

  • Use APA citations (both in-text and reference citations)

  • Follow APA format guidelines (one inch margins, double spacing, etc.)

  • Research paper should include the following components:

 

  1. Title Page (per the APA – running head, etc.)

  2. Introduction (clearly stated thesis)

  3. Body

  4. Conclusion
