Primary Discussion Response is due by Wednesday 

There are a variety of law enforcement agencies that, as a part of their responsibilities to the public, are involved in the investigations process.

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas:

• Compare and contrast local (city and county), state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Do they all perform similar functions and have the same investigative responsibilities? Why or why not? Explain.
• Discuss in detail the roles and responsibilities of local, state, and federal law enforcement organizations in respect to criminal investigations.
  • If a criminal incident occurs in two jurisdictions, who would be responsible for investigating the crime? Explain.
