This project asks you to explore a “personal theme,” such as an event, memory, or person that has been influential in your life, or a more global issue that you have a personal interest in, and create your own work of creative expression–a painting, a small sculpture, a sketch, a collage, or a mixed media work. Choose wisely, your imagery and designs must reflect the ideas and feelings that surround and inform your choice. No prefabricated artwork will be accepted, unless approved by me. Students will present their works via Canvas, outlining how the work relates to the context of the course and will write a short 1-2 page “artist’s statement” explaining the work of art. Grades are based on effort and quality of work/presentation/paper.
