Step One:
•Sourcing from either print media (e.g., magazines, newspapers, brochures,
newsletters, etc.) find ONE image for each of the elements and principles and, if
applicable, their subcategories (The images can be of an interior scene, of a
fashion layout, or of an object).
ELEMENTS:
1) Line (vertical, horizontal, diagonal, curved)
2) Shape (rectilinear, square, round, concave, convex)
3) Volume/Mass (call out the item to which you are referring)
4) Light (natural, artificial, hybrid)
5) Color (any of your choosing)
6) Space (both positive and negative)
7) Pattern (call out the item to which you are referring)
8) Texture (call out the object to which you are referring)
• You should end up with a total of 18 images/pages
Step Two:
• Cut your selected images from your sources and crop them accordingly and neatly.
Please note that torn edges or sloppily cut images will result in a lower grade.
Step Three:
• Adhere the image to the paper (Use an adhesive medium of your choice). Please
note: any visible adhesive medium (e.g., glue, tape, etc.) will result in a lower grade.
• Below the image, write the name and, if necessary, a brief description of the
element or principle to which you are referring. (Please draw an arrow to the element
or principle for clarification).
Please note: You are to assemble/arrange the pages of your element and principle
journal in sequential order from 1-8 and 1-6. Not doing so will result in a lower grade.
