1.2.5 Lab 1: Report Questions

  1. (40 points) Compare the experimental results collected in Part 2 with the Simulation results using your identified value of Cd. Provide both the value of Cd and a single plot created in Matlab that shows experimental and simulation results for how the height of water in the tank decreases as a function of time. Comment on the accuracy of your model.
  2. (40 points) Discuss the validity of the pump linearity assumption based on the results from Part 3. Provide the Matlab plots for Kp computed in both Steps 20 and 21 based on (1.2.4) and (1.2.7), respectively. For the computed Kp values using (1.2.7), compute the average value that should be used for future system modeling and control design.
  3. (20 points) In your own words, summarize what you did in Lab 1. What was the purpose of each of the three parts of the Lab Procedure? What were the key ideas, assumptions, and methods used in this Lab that can be used for modeling and exper- imental parameter estimation of other dynamic systems?
