1)Professional Identity Paper – Signature Piece
Students must write a paper about their professional identity as a counselor.
This paper should include (use as subsection titles in the paper)
(a) a history of counseling and its evolution,
(b) effective counselor characteristics,
(c) professional issues relevant to mental health counseling (i.e. involvement in AMHCA, insurance and third-party reimbursement, licensure, etc.), and
(d) a clear distinction between counselors and other mental health professionals.
This paper should be supported by research from a minimum of three peer-reviewed articles (e.g., Journal of Mental Health Counseling). You may not use your course textbook as one of your sources. This paper must be written in APA Style and be a minimum of 5 full pages in length (excluding the references). T
