Answer the questions and provide supporting evidence from the text. 100 word minimum per question. Supporting eve since from the text should NOT be the majority of your answer. Try and use a quote or two.
1. What was Stevenson’s grandmother’s background? How did she influence his career choice? What were his reasons for choosing law as a career? Who or what influenced your career choice?
2. Harper Lee wrote To Kill A Mockingbird while living in Monroe County, Alabama, the same county Just Mercy is set in. (If you don’t know about the novel, you may have to research the summary). Why is it ironic that the people from Monroe County are so proud of this book? In what way does the subject of the novel relate to Just Mercy?
3. Why did Stevenson assume that the receptionist at SPDC was joking when she told him Robert E. Lee was on the phone (19). Why is this name particularly funny, given who Lee was and who Stevenson is? (If you don’t know who Lee was, look him up).
4. Discuss the event where Stevenson was pulled over by police. He was a lawyer, and yet he wished he had been more assertive. Why wasn’t he? Would it have been affective? Discuss how the police acted in the situation. What was the response to Stevenson’s official complaint?
