I’m working on a research & summaries multi-part question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
As we can see from the TedEx talk, Confucian philosophy is one of constant self-transformation, never settling on a version of yourself, but helping to order your self within the world and society. Rites or rituals enable us to overcome the (social and personal) patterns (habits?) that place us in a rut, that restrict us. Life should be a constant cultivation of humanness, virtue, righteousness, wisdom, and integrity through rituals that disrupt and overcome everything that makes us the opposite. In other words, never settle for one version of your self!
How does Puett’s take on Confucian rituals relate to the Buddhist concept of “no self”?
